The iconic Marco Polo Hotel of Davao is making a grand comeback after nearly four years shutdown following the Covid -19 pandemic that crippled the tourism industry worldwide.
Francis Ledesma, the president of Halifax Corporation that owns Marco Polo Davao said that the hotel is undergoing massive renovation there is no telling as yet when it will open its doors to guests.
There has been speculation that the 1st 5-Star hotel once opened will be under new management. However, Halifax Chairman Carlos “Sonny” G. Dominguez belied the rumors and disclosed to the Mindanao Journal that it will still be under the same management.
Marco Polo Davao stands as the most prestigious among the Marco Polo hotel chains when it garnered the “Best Hotel Award”.
Located in the heart of Davao City, Marco Polo was the favorite venue of regional and national conferences , wedding parties and family events. It boasts of excellent dining options, fitness center and swimming pool.
The hotel lobby was the favorite hub of then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and unknown to many his entry into the presidential arena and campaign strategy were all planned and decided in Marco Polo Davao Presidential Suite. (Jun Ledesma)
