It’s incredible how the internet of things could reduce the huge wide world into what seems like just your neighborhood. In nano seconds for as long as I am awake, I can see and hear what are unraveling in places and little nooks in Davao Region and elsewhere in the country. And yes I can eavesdrop from vloggers, read opinion writers and even listen to Davao radio commentators including the interview of Ka Tunying with FL Liza which is really a rib-tickler at best….I mean her remarks comparing VP Sara with Leni Robredo. What draws my attention to that video clip though is the close up looks of the face of the head of the kitchen cabinet in the palace.

Now I know why and what is the significance of “dot com” (.com) in the suffix of my email. Have an email and the world is reduced into a dot.

The Hakbang ng Maisug prayer rally in Tagum City was replete with unexpected developments, tall tales including blasphemous prayers, before during and after. From my vantage it looked like Davao Gov. Edwin Jubahib was the only person who knew that he will be suspended just hours before the rally. He went on air to announce that he is not aware of any reasons or issues against him why he will be meted with such injustice. He claimed that the suspension will be served because he, along with Rep. Bebot Alvarez, were the organizers of the rally.

Of course it is the height of injustice if what he rattled off were true. As he had predicted the suspension order was served but he refused to accept it. A human barricade formed by his loyalists and truckloads of lumads from Kapalong who pathetically were nebulous as to what was going on.

In the next scenario DILG Regional Dir. Matalam sworn-in Vice Gov. Oyo Uy as Acting Governor for the next 60 days.

Oyo, that’s how he wanted to be called, then called for a press conference. He was flanked by Board Members Popop Catalan and Orly Amit. True to his mien, Acting Governor Oyo did not make a fuss about his temporary ascendancy except to say that no one from the rolls of provincial employees will be replaced saying “as is, where is” and that he had seen to it that the Hakbang ng Maisog rally will be peaceful and secured and complete with medical teams on standby.

When it was Orly Amit’s time to talk, he came out with a shocking revelation that virtually unmasked Jubahib. It turned out that he was the one who filed an affidavit of complaint citing abuse of authority and oppression against Jubahib. He bared that he filed the complaint in November 2022 when for no reason or reasons the government-issued vehicle for his office was ordered pulled out by Jubahib.

In short, Amit dispproved Jubahib’s claim of innocense that he was oblivious of any complaint issues against him.

From the Provincial Capitol where suspended Jubahib holds fort as he refused to leave, there was no rebuttal heard.

The rally drew in a huge crowd. Former President Rodrigo Duterte, who was the fulcral figure of the rally cautioned Pres. Bongbong Marcos against the covert move to alter the constitution. Talking in the vernacular he forewarned and patiently informed the crowd that the real intention of the plot to change the constitution is actually for the incumbent President and Members of Congress to have their term extended.

However the otherwise calm atmosphere during the rally turned raucous when Congressman Bebot Alvarez took over the lectern and called on the military and police to withdraw their support for President Marcos.

In the aftermath a slew of puzzling and some expected developments happened.

From the headquarters of Hugpong ng Pagbabago, an unsigned memorandum was posted on Facebook announcing the expulsion from HnP of Acting Gov. Oyo Uy, Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, Vice Gov. Tyron Uy and Rep. Maricar Zamors both from Davao de Oro.

The expulsion came as a surprise to the charter members of the HnP who, I learned from media sources, have yet to receive a formal copy of the memo. For his part however OIC Oyo state firmly that his service to the people transcends party affiliation.

Every body thought that the startling events that clouded the hot political and weather climate in Davao del Norte were just about it. Then came the thunderbolt. The the National Security Council, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police and members of the House of Representatives are demanding from the Department of Justice to file sedition or rebellion case against Bebot Alvarez for his call of withdrawal of support for President Marcos.

Bebot Alvarez had appologize saying he was carried away by his emotion because of his love of country especially Mindanao.

Let’s see the unraveling of events and listen to the rumblings of the stomach which had been ignored. (Jun Ledesma)
